L4D Unused Animations

Some unused L4D animations left in the game files including:
- Incap drag & crawl animations.
- First person hunter pounce animation (instead of automatically switching to third person when pouncing a player).
- Drag animations with pistols.

My theory for the drag animations is that in a early stage of development of the game Valve added a crawling ability to let players crawl while being incapacitated and drag incapacitated team mates to rescue them.

I kind of just got into l4d and I gotta say its wicked.. but where are these animations .. Are they like, in the game or something

@ZydrateCupcake its hidden in the game files, you need to use the model viewer from Authoring Tools to view them.

You can actually crawl while incapped on some modded servers, you know, but I don't think the animation plays for the crawl.

@elvenpriestess It's a music from a HL2 mod, but I forgot what it is since I already deleted it, but I do remember the music title though, it's "assasinfight".

the ceiling idle was neat. the hunter's long claws could dig into the ceiling and pounce survivors from up there. thats epic

Those crawling animation are avaible with mods but thats just stupid because you are incap means you can barely defend youself.

@STImpulse101 actually i was playing a single player game and i was incapped and i tried to use w and i crawled and the crawl animation showed too it was in L4D2

The hunter was originally supposed to hang upside down like spider man but valve took it away for some reason. Maybe the developers saw that it gave motion sickness or something like that.

The crawling would be useful and I can kinda see why Valve didn't give the hunter ceiling abilities. The hunter's pounce from the ground is deadly but coming from the ceiling is just cheap. It still would be preety neat though.
