  • Jeff Porcaro and Jim Hodder. Whoa!! Hear them go!

  • A very young Michael McDonald on backing vocals - was a studio musician at the time when Dan found him - look at him now 5 x Grammy winner!

  • Wowww!! Never heard this before, man that sounds UNREAL for such an early recording....Brill post, many thx;-)

  • Guess Dias is now a computer programmer in Cali

  • Whatever happened to Diaz? Anyone know? Love that guy

  • @sonicgardenplaysdead: at the time Steely Dan released this song, the US and USSR between them had about 50,000 nuclear weapons pointed at each other. The lyrics are pretty clearly about the aftermath of a nuclear war. "smoking cobalt cigarettes... " is a riff on the Doomsday Machine meme in which life on Earth is extinguished by cobalt-jacketed hydrogen bombs. and "ain't no marigolds left in the Promised Land, there's a hole in the ground where they used to grow... " is about H-bomb craters.

  • If I stay inside I might live to Saturday..HA! Brilliant coda with the guitars
