CBC News Covers Free Tibet Protest on the Great Wall of China. As the one-year countdown celebrations for the 2008 Olympics came to a close in Beijing, eight Tibetan independence activists were deported to Hong Kong. Six of the activists had been arrested early on August 7th for unfurling a large protest banner on the Great Wall of China. The two others were Lhadon Tethong and UK Tibet activist Paul Golding, who were detained by Chinese police in Beijing at approximately 2pm Beijing time on August 8th. The eight were deported from China and put on a plane to Hong Kong, where they arrived at approximately 3am local time.

In fact, Lamaism is the state religion of Manchu Qing dynasty which the modern concept of China derives from. The barbarians are northern nomatic tribes like Mongols, Jurchens. Tibetans are in the same league as the Shatuo Turks, the Persians and India who were considered civilized foreigners in the mind of the Ancient Chinese.

Here's how stupid the whole situation is. The Great Wall is the biggest piece of historical evidence that proves Tibet is not part of China. In fact, the wall was built to keep out foreign invaders, i.e. barbarians, which is what many Chinese called us and still call us even today.

I wish the Chinese govt would have been more strict to those stupid Canadians. I would have liked to see them spend some time in jail. they make all Canadians look hypocritical and short-sighted. This whole 'free tibet' thing is only a fad that westerners think is the cool thing to do, it has nothing to do with history. If it did then why not look at the British invasion of Tibet or the Canadian restrictions based on the Chinese race during the years of Mackenzie King, pretty disgraceful.
