  • Loved this video. I am an American Muslim and I respect those who do not wish to worship. Heck two of my closest friends are atheists and they respect me just as much as I respect them. Worship or not to worship is the right of every individual.

  • Your words are music to my ears. I really appreciated your comment.

  • Except it is not special about the USA. Most countries in the world respect this right, silly. India, Britain, Russia, even Communist China (in theory). And there is the rub, in the USA, you don't live up to your retoric. That why the evil Theocracies (some friends and some foes of the USA) treat your retoric with a pinch of salt!

  • Agreed. I'm hoping, though, that the concept is contagious. A lot of people in the USA of various radical religions just don't get it. We've been trying some 221 years now to get it right; maybe someday we will.

  • Religion is NOT a private matter when religious people start teaching creationism as science, try and take political power or look forward to rapture.

  • "Anything the government says or does is not a private matter by definition."

Saying something is "private" goes far beyond just keeping the government out of things. Religion has a right to be public. Are you equating all public matters as governmental matters? Because there is a whole lot of public stuff than isn't done by the government, and using phrases like "private matter" has always been used to try to shut citizens up, not the government.

  • It's not a private matter if the government has a part in it. Anything the government says or does is not a private matter by definition.

You should always have the right to question government action but if your only criticism has to do with your religios belifes then your argument is pretty weak

  • I dont think religion needs any protection in the US, It's a muli-billion dollar business. I think it is the non-religious that need their rights supporting.

I think this video is niaive and remins me of old Benetton adverts.

  • I was with you until you use the words "private matter". No it isn't. It is a public matter. That term "private mater" has always been a euphemism for disguised religious intolerance. Anytime someone questions a governmental action based on their principles, someone pulls out the "private matter" phrase.
