  • Before the Mustang, the GTO, or the Corvette, this was THE original American Muscle.

  • @Hiei2k7 : as for Steam Pacing NW (J) 611 -> Well, by hearing the rhytme of the 80'' diameter drivers, you are able to calculate the speed. Where I'm counting some 330 strokes per minute .., so with the rotating frequency f = n/60 = 5,5 Hz, regarding on the circumference of those (4) D-wheels, you'll get : v = 5.5 x π.D = 5,5 .π.(0.8 x 2,54) = 35.1 m/s or ca. 126.4 km/h or else some 79 mph ... Hopefully at your service (-: dAb +>

  • That's a massive display of recipicating energy amost comparable to the largest pistons on the largest ship engines. This really graphically shows the violent recipicating energy of those push arms. I am assuming preventing those arms breaking is number one safety priority for these mechanics.

  • This thing was haulin' some serious ass.

  • The US is lucky, steam's only aloud to top 70mph :[

  • The 844, 3986, 6936, 949, 963B and 951 are all rated for 82 mph in the employee's system special instructions.

  • Thats what i like to see.Shes structing her stuff here.Did you guys notice that shes not making alot of smoke.I have a model of this locomotive in o gauge by mth trains.

  • @Amtrak1194 Wait A min, i thought the DDA40X was geared for 90mph! But i could b wrong.

  • @operazanotaijin amen to that.

  • I wanna see a UP 844 and MILW 261 double-header. That would be amazing. Great clip btw. That thing can fly!

  • That was an excellent video except that it wasn't long enough! Wouldn't it be cool to be riding inside the loco?

  • @Amtrak1194 The DDA40X was designed with a top speed of 83 mph.
