@Hiei2k7 : as for Steam Pacing NW (J) 611 -> Well, by hearing the rhytme of the 80'' diameter drivers, you are able to calculate the speed. Where I'm counting some 330 strokes per minute .., so with the rotating frequency f = n/60 = 5,5 Hz, regarding on the circumference of those (4) D-wheels, you'll get : v = 5.5 x π.D = 5,5 .π.(0.8 x 2,54) = 35.1 m/s or ca. 126.4 km/h or else some 79 mph ... That's a massive display of recipicating energy amost comparable to the largest pistons on the largest ship engines. This really graphically shows the violent recipicating energy of those push arms. I am assuming preventing those arms breaking is number one safety priority for these mechanics.

@Amtrak1194 The DDA40X was designed with a top speed of 83 mph.
was he hauling the DD40AX because the dd40ax was only geared for 70 mph
