@kinshasaAPP I work at an airport too. They are a corporate jet center and a flight school. Trust ME when I say that an aviation degrees worthless. Ask any pilot and they will say the same. There are airlines that will hire English pilots because of where the planes are based, but that doesn't mean an embry riddle student is going to have an advantage over anyone else solely because they trained there. Degrees are on the same piece of paper and all pilot licenses look the same ;).

@rev4life03 The airline's may train their own pilots, but they sure as hell hire already-trained foreign pilots. Take Cathay Pacific for example, and their British hires. Also, most pilot slots opening up overseas are for business aviation companies i.e. corporate transport etc. I am a Riddle student, but for ATC. And trust me, I know about airline's sending their trainees to the US. I worked for a large flight school in CA whose main business came from training Asian pilots.

@rev4life03 If*

@kinshasaAPP I you knew anything about the international market you would know that they recruit their own pilots, send them over to the U.S to flight train, and when they were done fly back to their country and begin flying for their airline. An aviation degree is worthless. What job will that aeronautical science degree get you when you get furloughed? Or when the AME tells you he couldn't give you a first class medical? Are you a riddle student?
-
@rev4life03 A degree in an American flight school does wonders outside of the US. As globally interdependent the aviation market is, pilots just have to be willing to travel outside of the US for work. Pilot slots in China and Korea, for example, are numerous. People in all career fields need to be open to moving outside of the US, as other countries need skilled workers with quality training.
-
@kinshasaAPP Thats already the case "Part 141 can earn you a Commercial in just 190 hours instead of the 250" Who cares what the law is, do YOU honestly think that some riddle kid with 350 hours can compete in the market right now? With all the pilots with jet and multi experience on furlough right now? Dream on..Do you know why the flight instructors at your school in Prescott are there Flight instructing? There is NO JOBS!!! A Degree from riddle or any other flight school doesn't help you..
-
@rev4life03 The FAA is about to pass regulation that flight students who graduate from a certified part 141 training center can be hired-on with substantially fewer hours.
-
@kinshasaAPP No Pilot gets a job at 350 hours, Doesnt matter if papa at joe schmoes flight school trained you or Embry Riddle did. Wake Up.
-
@rev4life03 Too bad they get the jobs.
