The Seahawks became very competitive real quick

I think I'll put the backfield of Sherman & David Sims ahead of HALF the TOP 10 backfields from NFL Network.

@plntntvzn I mean that's Joe Klecko & Greg Buttle @0:46-47, Steel Curtain, Orange Crush & a very good Oiler defense. That's great running without the benefit of much (if any) blocking.

Sherman Smith was a big, strong back best suited for tailback when rushing the football. He could turn it on when he got it revved up and caught the ball very well out of the backfield. He ran hard and was a determined blocker, despite what we see here @1:07.

@plntntvzn. One thing that is not mentioned is his ability to avoid hits like helmet hits or shoulder ones. He played against great defensive backs who could hit like Tatum, Atkinson Atwater, Hayes, Dennis Smith, and others. Lot of possession receivers tend to develop lazy head. They focus so hard on catching the ball that they leave their head and body vulnerable to shots. Of course, you see receivers bail out too soon and drop the ball. But Steve could do both which made him the best.

I wonder what the song playing underneath is, as this first starts?

I wish more young fans were aware of Jim Zorn's playing career. He was an excellent quarterback who helped put the Seahawks on the map. I miss the voice of John Facenda. I also miss NFL fullbacks getting carries once in a while.

Largent probably could not crack a 4.6 clocking in the 40, but he ran routes to perfection, had soft hands,took the ball in front of him and used so many moves to consistently embarrass the league's elite corner backs. Ask Lester Hayes or Louis Wright if Largent could beat you deep. Do not forget about his ability and toughness. His ability to outwit his defenders was truly a work of art. His cunning consistently got him behind the defense. Confounded secondaries swore he did it with mirrors.
I sure do love watching Sherman Smith run with the football,especially through the great Orange Crush defense,and even greater Steel Curtain,and even the solid Oiler defense. Still, that was a whiff on Smith's part as far as a missed block on the move @1:07.

@plntntvzn *lol* Never noticed that.
I love the one hander by David Sims, and than the following highlight fleaflicker ala Myer to Sims to Largent.
