I was 9 when this happened but I remember very clearly how i felt and how much symbolism was a part of his father helping him over the finish line. My dad's a pastor and I'm sure he's not the only one to do it but he made an allusion to this event as to how we cannot cross the finish line in life without the help of God/Jesus etc. in a sermon.

This truely captures the sprit of the Olympics. Sometimes it's not just about winning the Gold. Redmond is a winner in my eyes, he never gave up even when he so easily could have and we should all remember his example.
