An informal judging session with AKC judges Susan Parsons and Christine Pollender-Calcinari. The owners of Park Avenue Kennels bring a group of English Foxhounds from the same litter to be evaluated in an informal setting. The litter is just over a year old but you can see the differences in the individual dogs. There are not many English Foxhounds in the U.S. so this was a unique opportunity for both judges to increase their knowledge of the breed. These dogs all have a tremendous amount of white which would work against them in an AKC ring? That might be true for other breeds, but it's not true for this breed. The majority of these dogs have consistently been in the top 25 ranking for the past 3 years. Two were in the top 5 this year. Nearly all are finished AKC champions, one of which finished at 6 and a half months with 3 five-point majors. He went on the win an AOM at Westminster this year, in spite of his horrendous white markings.

Most English foxhounds in a litter 24? Wrong, wrong, wrong. The most dogs in ANY litter is an AMERICAN Foxhound litter born in the forties in Ambler PA, to a dog owned by Newbold Ely. Though English Foxhounds, like American Foxhounds, can be any color, these dogs all have a tremendous amount of white which would work against them in an AKC ring.
