From DemocracysGhosts.org: Learn how 5.3 million Americans have lost the right to vote. This trailer, from a 34-minute film from the ACLU and Off Ramp Films, spends time with people who are living their lives as legal ghosts because of felony convictions. Their stories are complemented and enriched by interviews with experts and well-known personalities, among them evangelist Chuck Colson, actor Charles Dutton, civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis, and Harvard Professor Lani Guiniier.

  • Very good message. I'll try and spread it around a bit. We can not let the government disregard the people like this. This needs to be taken extremely seriously.

  • America should return to an isolationist model of world affairs. Screw everybody else. We should work on us FIRST.

  • should've thought about this before you snatched that bag

  • i like the message

  • i didn't misrepresent the issue

    i said "some of"

i didn't say "everyone who has been disenfranchised is a political radical" as you imply

we've all had our votes stolen from us anyway

    we are all disenfranchised

  • Let's get something straight here, this is not a disenfranchisement of political radicals. If that were true I would not be able to vote either. Taking the right to vote from certain types of criminals was meant to be an additional punishment for severe crimes. It is an inappropriate, cruel, and unusual punishment to be sure, and should be abolished. However, that doesn't give you permission to misrepresent the issue at hand in such a manner.

  • it's no accident that the powers that be choose to disenfranchise some of the most politically radical people in our country
