I am going to take a wild guess that this guy is not a white (Euro) American but actually an Afghan who has picked up a bit of Urdu from living in Pakistan before he made it to New York. He just said he learned in NY to avoid telling his life story. Many Afghans and people from Northern Pakistan look like him.
