Realize chapter fourteen

Harry: Good night Kat. I hope you have a good few weeks at college before Thanksgiving.
I smiled at him. "Me too, Harry. me too."
**End Kat's POV**

**Aly's POV**
Nick: I hope you like it...
I took the box from him and unwrapped it to find.. more wrapping paper. Nick chuckled slightly as I ripped that wrapping paper off. I groaned "Really, Nicholas? Really?" I asked as I saw even more wrapping paper. I tore at the paper until I was left with a small box resting in the palm of my hand.
Nick: *smiles* Open it
"No more wrapping paper?" I asked jokingly.
Nick: You have to find out for yourself.
I sighed and opened the box. "Oh." I said, pulling the little keychain out of the box.
Nick: I remembered how you needed one, and since it was your favorite color and your favorite flower... and... and you hate it.
I looked up at his distressed face, shocked. "Of course I don't hate it!" I told him with a smile. I really didn't hate it. I can't believe he thought I did. "I really love y-yo-you- your present." I finished, looking back at it and grinding my teeth. Why was it so hard to say those three words? I LOVE YOU! God.
Nick: *beams* I hoped you would.
"I do. I really do."
Nick: *hugs me*
I buried my face into his shoulder, wishing I could just tell him how I feel. But I couldn't risk what we had right now. If keeping him forever meant feeling this pain, then I would just learn to live through the pain. I wouldn't ever risk losing him. Never.
Nick: I should probably get you home before your mom thinks you've been kidnapped.
I laughed and regretfully let him go. "Alright. We don't want my mom calling the police on you, Nicholas." I teased as he led me back to the car. The ride to my house was quick, so we didn't talk on the way there. But he walked me up to the door.
Nick: Sorry your surprise turned out really bad, Aly
"It didn't! I loved it."
Nick: *smiles sadly* You don't have to pretend. It was a disaster.
I shook my head. "It wasn't. It was really sweet of you to do all of that just for me."
Nick: I was trying to make your birthday memorable.
I smiled a little sadly back at him.
Nick: I guess it was memorable, though. Not at all in a way that it should have been.
"No, it was both. But I'll remember the second part of the day as my birthday, Nick." I threw my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.
Nick: *hugs me tightly* I'm sorry Derek was so terrible to you.
I pressed myself close to him, looking for a little comfort. "It's not your fault." He started humming something to me and I could feel my body relaxing in his arms. There was just no way for me to be near him and not be at ease. "What song are you humming? Sing it for me?" He hesitated and I realized how stupid that must have sounded. "O-only if you want to..."
Nick: *chuckles* Of course I do. I'm just trying to remember the words. My lyrics went missing the other day.
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't-- you don't have to." I mumbled, leaning back. "Thanks for the birthday surprise Nick."
Nick: *hums the song a little before starts singing* I called you for the first time yesterday
Finally found missing part of me

Left me without anything to say.
And now I'm speechless, over the edge

I never thought I'd catch this love bug again
Hopeless, head over heels in the moment
I never thought that I'd get his by this love bug again.
"That..." I gasped as I remembered why I knew the lyrics. "That... was taken by Derek. He told me that he wrote it and.. and I had believed him! Oh, I had been so stupid! Of course he didn't write it! I should have known it wasn't written for me. Oh now I feel so stupid!" Nick pulled me into his arms again.
Nick: It's not your fault, Aly.
He whispered something else that I knew I must have misheard because it sounded like 'and it was written for you' "What did you say?" I asked him, looking up into his eyes.
Nick: I said I should be getting home soon. Good night Aly. I'll see you tomorrow.
"G'night Nick" I mumbled as he went back to his car and left. "I love you" I whispered once he was gone. "So, so much." A tear fell out of my eye and landed on the keychain in my hand as I turned to the door and went inside.
