@guitarjrogers I just like the deeper sound of a Loar. I'm not crazy about the sound of a Gibson Fern. Then again I think a Weber fern sounds better then a Gibson Fern. I love the deep dry sound of a Duff. It is all matter of taste. Anyways enjoyed hearing your Gilchrist it sounds good.
@bluegrasssingingman Wow Thanks I think! I paid $6500.00 when I ordered it new in 1995 and got it in a year back in the day.I also have a 2004 Duff which is a great mandolin as well. I don't know anything a Loar 600. I have played alot of real Loars in my time and I would'nt trade my Gilchrist for the sound maybe the money. But I have no desire to keep looking for the holy grail because I have mine. Webers are great mandos but as any they all very in sound and feel. Breedlove not so sure about
