  • did u do this for collage students?

  • No, actually I did it for a middle school student who was going in for an audition. I wanted him to be able to play it well, hence the slower tempo. Did the video afterward just for fun.

  • So what is your passion? I attended the University of California at San Diego, was actually a clarinet major! What does the MLC stand for? I'm really glad that you have responded and I'm thrilled that we have opened up a dialogue.

I have heard much about the Yanagisawa saxes but have never played one. I hear they are remarkable instruments. Where are you in school? Hope I'm not being too intrusive or asking too many questions...just curious.

  • You do realize that the tempo is WAY to slow, right? Other than that, pretty good interpretation.

  • Of course I realize that..I purposely recorded it slow for a student to work on, there was NO WAY he was going to play it at tempo.

  • Ok. I didn't mean to sound mean.

  • You didn't...and it's WAY TOO slow. So I checked out your channel and it's cool. What do you play. I've got a Selmer MarkVII alto, heard on the recording and a Mark VI tenor, which is a super sweet horn. I'm more or a jazz player that dabbles in legit. (I know I know, that's not allowed.)

  • @SaxymanMLC Everything you've said yourself is like me--drum major, everything the music dept. offers, going to uni to teach music..., except I'm geared to jazz. I thought it was quite a cool coincidence. :)

  • i was gonna say a collage student can learn a gr. 5 piece without this lol and im thirteen and dont need this to play it well(no offence) bt good help for a beginner at this song

  • i personally play a yamaha alto custom ex really dark rich tone with exceptional intonation and design (exceptional meaning remarkable) lol any questions about it just ask

  • *but MY passion...

  • So I see you are a music teacher. I am going to college for that. I hope to direct choir and band in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod high school system. I think it might end up being a six year program.

  • (Sorry about the to/too mixup. I usually do those kind of things right.) I play on a Yanagisawa 901 alto with a Rousseau 5r mouthpiece. I am only a freshman in college - first chair in band. In high school I played in every group (jazz, marching, symphonic band, polka band, etc) I was also drum major. I do a lot of singing, but passion is more classical than jazz. Sure, I can play jazz, but I'm not super good at it.
