Fans of the original Bamako String Jam can now see and hear a longer version with improved video and audio quality.

Adama Coulibaly on kamale n'goni with Zoumana Tereta on soku and Amara Kante on jembe. The Kamale n'goni is derived from the donso n'goni, an 8-stringed lute from the Wassoulou region of Mali. Donso n'goni means "hunter's harp" in the Bamana language. The soku is a one-stringed fiddle that is made from a small calabash covered with lizard skin, whose string and bow are affixed with horsehair. Soku means "horsehair" in Bamana.

  • Anyone know where I can buy music of these guys or artists with similar vocals and instrumentation?

  • @UnrealAppeal You can purchase CDs by these artists at the website systemkrush.

  • All the musicians are terrific but Adama Coulibaly and Zoumana Tereta really bring this to life. Amazing music, especially for a jam.

One funny thing is the white guy in the white T-Shirt in the middle - he hardly moves....lol!

    Wonder if he's tired?

  • @throbule Maybe he thought that if he moved, they would stop playing? :)
