  • I’m unconvinced. From The End of Faith, p. 52:

“Some propositions are so dangerous that it may even be ethical to kill people for believing them.”

The guy is an atheist moral idiot.

  • @ozredneck22

Might be more convincing and consistent of you to provide a direct counter argument rather than calling the guy an idiot.

  • @hopelessone15 In that case it would be ethical to restrain said person from committing acts leading to the death of all redheads. Perhaps killing that person maybe necessary. However, if the person refrains from killing, despite belief, that person is not dangerous, and execution of such a person is unethical.

I suspect this is what Harris means, but I still think it is unwise to make the above statement.

  • @FreeInquisition On ozredneck22 assertion, I would say that while I would not call Sam Harris an idiot, I would say that the statement is a dangerous one. Rather one should say that a person who holds a belief such as, "All people with red hair should die." is a dangerous person if that person acts on his or her belief.

  • @ozredneck22 since you want to troll me that much ill just say:

    Apple Pie <3

  • @Dreadnought942 Does that include abortionist doctors?

  • @ozredneck22 if you belive that killing innocent people is good.

its just a matter of time before you do it.

either isolate you and treat you.

or get rid of you before you harm others.

    yes i would.

  • @Dreadnought942 So what you are trying to say is that it would be a crime punishable by death if you had a proposition or belief that involves killing innocent people?

  • @ozredneck22 lets reverse it.

Those Porpositions will get YOU KILLED. are you still an idiot?

there is an answer in that comment you just made.

"MAY <<<< even be ethical" MAY.

and i WOULD cause believing that BLOWING UP and KILLING 50 people to get you to haven with virgins.

    IS a crime against humanity.

if people can't understand that they are as good as animals.

its kill or be killed and I rather kill then be killed by some false statement made by a psychopath.

  • @Dreadnought942 Dread, I'm obviously not as smart as you, so tell me, who would we need to kill first to fulfill the statement "Some propositions are so dangerous that it may even be ethical to KILL PEOPLE for believing them.”

  • @ozredneck22 your not getting the point...if a man were standing in front of you Holding a Gun and Threatning to shoot you.

would you just stand there ?

    or protect yourself?

same concept dumbass for fucks sake is that hard to understand? that if we don't STOP then (not even kill them) we WILL fucking DIE.

Religion IS our END we must unite as a whole to survive. this universe is too big and our lives are too short

    to waste on this superstition!!!!

  • @Dreadnought942 Who will decide whether it is ethical or not to kill someone, the atheists, the rationalists, maybe Dr Peter Singer, maybe a communist dictator, lets make Sam Harris the leader of the "free" world he can decide what is ethical.
