From the New York Times bestselling author—the shooting script to his award-winning film, with an original Introduction and vivid stills from the movie.

Jenny is a 16-year-old girl stifled by the tedium of adolescence; she cant wait for her sophisticated adult life to begin. One rainy day her suburban existence is upended by the arrival of David, a much older suitor who introduces her to a glittering new world of concerts, art, smoky bars, urban nightlife, and his glamorous friends, replacing her traditional education with his own version. It could be her awakening—or her undoing. This edition of Hornbys adapted screenplay, which includes stills from the film, is a perfect accompaniment to the highly anticipated movie, which stars Carey Mulligan as Jenny, Peter Sarsgaard, Emma Thompson, Dominic Cooper, and Alfred Molina. It is a must-have for fans of Hornbys novels, featuring his signature pitch-perfect dialogue, mordant wit, and the resonant humanity of his writing.

  • Great trailer but can be a little misleading..but i suppose that's what trailers are for :)

  • @FThastings What about the Reader? That was about a 16 year old boy with a middle aged woman.

  • Thanks. I wonder if Roman Polanski had anything to do with this film, even if not credited.

  • Thank you SO much proud2b4fam (&steathon) I can't understand why you have 4 thumbs down. This is SO sickening! It looks like a great performance by Carey Mulligan & good script. But what the !!

16 is still a child (especially to a man into his 30s) It is NOT OK for a man in his 30s to ever be with a 16 yr-old girl---how is this justified? People would never watch a movie with a male in the 16 yr-old role and a woman in the 30-ish role. Sexist and pedophiliac. I am baffled and disturbed. :(

  • The world has gone mad.

  • Today we call men like David "paedophiles". haven't read the book yet, but perhaps I shall...if only to see what new sexual agenda is being foisted upon the masses.
