It was fuck all to do with the Paras. I was there with A Sqn, 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards. 1 casualty, Tpr Dennis Edwards who sustained superficial wounds of which he made a complete recovery. So you can "big up" your failed attack by claiming that it was in some way a victory over the Para's, it wasn't and good old Bobby Sands won slimmer of the year anyway.

This attack was carried out on Sat 9 May 1981 @ 23:00 hrs approx. 10 mortars in all,1 uxb 2 direct hits one on the canteen & shithouse the other hit a caravan in the car park. The other 7 missed their target landing in the surrounding fields and Tommy Smyth's pig farm. The little present was for the 5th Skins who were there at that time... not Para.
