Great song, love the lyrics. One of Stipeys easier to understand lyrics.
I remember a guy in a bar in Elko, Nevada, on hearing my Scottish accent saying "Tell me why you're here?"
I couldn't help but reply, "I came to disappear."
He just looked at me, puzzled!

A very underrated gem from REM. Always loved this one. And I don't agree with the "decline" theory. Accelerate and Collapse Into Now were two fantastic CDs to go out on.
