The QE2 Western Transatlantic Crossing and New York City - Part 1

After many years of trying its finally happened! Here's the first part of my one and only transatlantic crossing to New York in January 2007 on board the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2.

Part 1 features the events leading up to and including the departure of the QE2 from Southampton as well as a tour of the main public areas and a peak at the cabin that was 'home' for the duration of the crossing.

It was truely amazing in every sphere and QE2 far exceeded what I had been expecting. Yes, the cabin was small, 121 square foot, but it was comfortable and being located down in the depths of Deck 5 the movement was minimal.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed the film - part 2 will follow in due course!

The QE2 was, in my view, more than just a ship, she was a special friend which I fondly remember and I feel very privaged to have travelled on board.

I'm sorry to have never experienced her. Thanks for uploading the video, I spend hours watching these to get an idea what it was like.... small cabin, btw, how did you get on?
