A short video that revolves around a 2008 trip to the site of Jonestown, Guyana, where in 1978, over 900 members of the People's Temple lost or took their own lives in a mass murder-suicide. A piece of poetic nonfiction that incorporates archival footage and images from the present as a means of investigating the invisibility of loss.
How much Xanax did the narrator take before reading this script??

Lyrical and haunting and strange and very sad.

Mother Thrash at first wondered if she herself wasn't dead and just hadn't been "taken home" yet. The very thought of that chills me to the bone.

Thanks for posting this since everyone will be curious as it is currently the 30th year since the event. Now everyone can see how the jungle reclaims the land. But the narrator doesn't speak like that every time she passes a cemetery, so why the voice as if she were in a funeral ? Its been 30 years. Speak as a narrator in a documentary.

Interesting. Although so many years have passed, it stirs emotion; Not a single worn down cabin and the growth even makes it hard to see the ground. Hyacinth must have felt so alone; She even mentioned that she missed hearing the voices of the other PT members around the area. It'll be 30 years on November 18.
