Shot by Cynthia D. Miller - After numerous attempts and snapping cables #6, 7 & 8 stacks are finally pulled down Thursday, September 3, 2009 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
HISTORY- Formerly called Penn-Ohio Power Plant, excavations for the plant began in November 1923 and the first four units were brought into operation between 1925 and 1928. Additional units were added in the 1940's. Due to having to meet the clean air standards required in the late 1960s, a 650 ft. smokestack was added resulting in the shutdown of the original eight stacks in 1970 that were part of the main structure.
