George Melly's interview with Slim Gaillard. Jazz Juke Box - Arena - 1983.

George Melly presents a number of short films made in the 1940's of some of the greatest and most popular jazz artists of the era, including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, Bessie Smith, Mead Lux Lewis, Albert Ammons, and Pete Johnson. Some of the footage originates from "soundies" films made for visual jukeboxes and the precursors of the pop promotional video.
