California Assemblyman Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park) tries to derail the nomination of Jerome Horton to be the new Board of Equalization Member from the 4th District. The previous BoE member was Judy Chu, who went to Congress after winning a special election in July after Hilda Solis was tapped to be Obama's Labor Secretary. Judy Chu is Mike Eng's wife. Under the Constitution when there is a vacancy on the BoE the Governor can appoint a successor. When Governor Schwarzenegger announced he was appointing Jerome Horton to fill the vacancy, Mike Eng told the press he wanted the seat but hadn't gotten around to talking to the Governor about it (Huh?Epic Fail #1). On September 10 when Horton's confirmation was up in the Assembly, Mike Eng pulls out his sword and, well.....Epic Fail #2. Mike Eng, you are a political genius.
