  • Who is the person in the video - there are several names on the research paper and I am trying to figure out which one is speaking in the video.

  • @midnitdr - It's Tom Ichim.

  • Can stem cell research be used for kidney failure?

    Thanks,

    Rodrick

  • yes we have a video on this describing animal data if you click on our channel and search for "stem cell therapy for kidney failure"

please understand the science is in its infancy

  • Great work. Since mesenchymal stem cells are found from fat tissue, this must be how people use fat for the treatment of arthritis in dogs and horses.

I wonder why are these treatments only available for animals and not for people. How long will it be until they start to allow stem cells in the US for patient who have diseases such as the ones you are describing.

  • Currently the company Osiris is in Phase III trials using bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells for the conditions Graft Versus Host and Crohn's Disease. They are in Phase II for Type 1 diabetes. There are numerous other clinical trials ongoing with stem cells in the United States, for example Texas heart is doing bone marrow for cardiac infarcts, and Indiana University is doing critical limb ischemia, an advanced form of peripheral artery disease. There are numerous examples on pubmed
