Batirov was just a beast at 55kg. Once he grew into 60kg, he was dominating in '08 and '09, but nothing like the dominance he showed at 55kg, where he was physically and technically superior in every way.

Batirov might end up being the best ever. Abas is a tough guy, in most years would have won it, but Batirov is on a level most people couldn't dream of being.

Amazing match. Really was hoping for Stephen Abas to go into 08 olympics. He placed silver in 04 with a torn acl. would've been great to see how he would've done now.

what a fuckin monster batirov was in the 04 olympics, wish he would still wrestle this style but i see how this leaves him open for injuries and tires him out greatly. the way he wrestles here is just so intense that many of his moves are too fierce so the reff calls them out as being too dangerous but the reff should've called the pin at 7:14. nowadays batirov wrestles more defense and tech orientated but it still works and i hope to see him go for a gold in 2012.
