The Occupy movement has united hundreds of thousands across the world in protest against economic and social injustice. In this episode, key Occupy activists talk global finance, politics, and direct action.
The former Deutsche Bank building in London plays host to this weeks discussion, which sees Julian discuss the origins, targets, and future of the Occupy movement with five high profile activists. The roots of the movement lie in the growing outrage many felt in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis. However, according to Alexa O'Brien from Occupy New York and US Day of Rage, they are also responding to a "Global Political Crisis, because our institutions no longer function." Aaron Peters from Occupy London agrees that political failure is a "global phenomenon", with power shifting to unaccountable non-democratic institutions. However, the last word goes to David Graeber from Occupy New York, who jokes "there's nothing that terrifies the American government so much as the threat of democracy breaking out in America."

Ive watched all his shows, Assange is a great guy who is very unappreciated in his time. I find it such a shame that if this guy gets killed, it will only b yrs after his death that it will suddenly click in the geenration's mind and many will start to realize what he was trying to do. People need to wake up now! this guy has uncovered alot of truths about US Govt, they say hes broken laws, but what bout the very crimes US has committed across the world!?!

There are two kinds of revolution, those who pride themselves on the backs of the people, and have strong objectives which inspire the people, and those who pride themselves on their own problems, and argue only against what they feel damages their life.

Unfortunately, occupy is that latter, and I have seen this movement with my own eyes. Though, often in history, the strong objective-based minority members in the second group will articulate themselves and eventually spawn their own system.

This shows the courage of Julian assange and the fact that he has carried on eventhough he is under the huge amount of strain and pressure, this should be an example of 'the visionary and the ideolists'

This is the whole point here, Assange cares about all those arnd him, who helped divulge the deep home truths about such corrupt Govts and not just US. We have to understand here, assange is trying to tackle this problem (of Govts control over people's rights), at the heart. Hes trying to literally wake people up, by making them aware of the real shocking truth that is going on in the world, and many people know about these things, every1s got the internet now, only people scared of truth

No its not at all, I just get annoyed at the many sheeple out there who all know of Justin Bieber, but have not even heard of this guy. Then yrs after hes dead and more of the people's rights (internet) are taken away from them, they'll start complaning and we'll see typical college kids wearing T-Shirts sporting his Image in a "che" style. About his deep source, that is unfortunate but also a price paid for exposing the truth, Like he cud ever pay that person out really come on.

Your addoration of him is a little sickly. He promised to pay the legal fees of his American source, now in jail, and last time I heard he's renaged on the deal. Nice.

The only trickery was on their parents for believing their child would succeed on a course frivolous studies.

The real lesson has come from their foolishness to take those loans out.

These university (senior high school) students are nothing more than older children with no impulse control. Obviously, economics in high school was not a popular subject with these kids and their families.

A fool and his money arte soon parted. Perfect statement.
