I am blessed because I have spend a considerable part of my life in my village. My village is still primitive and you can find many things there which are disappearing quickly with modernaization of indian villages. One such thing is a watermill. We are fortunate to have our own watermill which is serving us for last two generations. This is a video of the watermill in action. The background music is from a pahari song 'ama puchhadi' of Himachal Pradesh. I plan to add a voice documentry on water mill to the video at some later stage. At presnt, you can look at the Wikipedia article on water mills at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermill.

  • Kaka very good video of GHARAAT. Good to upload some real views of our culture and local life. Keep on.

  • Thanks, for the comment. I saw at your profile that you are from Hamirpur. Do you have similar kind of Gharats at Hamirpur?

  • I also found that you like the book "The Book of Mirdad" (by Mikhael Naymi) . So, you are a unique person in this respect, at least. Just put a poll anywhere on net and ask how many people like the book or have read it and you will know that I am right. I have not read this book, i have heard only a second have account of the book in osho's discourses. And, i am love with the book. Can you tell me where can I get a soft copy of the book?

  • with something more efficient you probably could create 5 times the amount of power

  • nice one.

  • Thanks For adding this video Becz it shows our realculture,

    GHARAAT

  • SORRY IT IS HAMIRPUR

  • My boy, Hamirur has been full with Gharats until 1980s. Even now there may be 100s of gharat working. until 1975, we do not have any diesel or electric CHAKKIS, therefore we used to go to Gharats only to get our wheat and maize grounded, and get aatta. Your video reminded of the time, when we used to spent our whole sunday in Gharats and swim in the KHADS...anyway thanks once again of this reminder...keep up.
