  • And, BTW, everyone's lip synching is off through this clip.

Actually, it's my fault - the transfer to make this video probably didn't line up like it was supposed to - just a little off in the syncing up between video/audio. The original appears to be lined up correctly. One of these days I'll see if I can fix it.

  • she's the most believable Mother - every word is in her body and in her voice even though she's just sitting there - her technique is perfection - the best!!!!!

  • What's up with her tongue. Weird. Love her voice though.

  • ALL THAT GOLD IS ONE SHOT!!!!!!! THATS NUTS!!!!!

  • Remember seeing this when they aired it every year. The "Lips weren't 'out of sync'" as it appears in this video. Stratus was one of my top faves during that time. I was studying and pursuing an operatic career myself, but was a lyric colouratura, not a mezzo. Does anyone know that Stratus was infamous for being a chain smoker???

  • Stratas made a number of singing films and was a consummate "lip syncher" . . . the timing is off here between the audio and visual. Not even the worst at synching would be this off . . . seconds behind. This is a marvelous film of this gem.

  • The lip-synching is off somehow. I'm surprised she doesn't seem to know how to do this. Looks like a badly-dubbed Fellini film. The more I look at it, the more it looks like the original was in another language.

  • Such a beautiful Christmas Opera. Thanks for posting it.

  • She. Is. Amazing.

  • What a wonderful singing actress Stratas was. How I miss her.
