Improvised Toccata in the French Style

An completely improvised toccata by Cody Mead and Matt Geda. Played at First Presbyterian Church. I'm in the grey shirt and Cody is in the red shirt.
About the Improvisation:
Cody is improvising heavily in the style of the great Pierre Cochereau.
I am improvising in the more mellow, liturgical styles of Marcel Dupre and Olivier Latry.
And at the end we threw in a little something in the style of Jean Guillou.

What is the difference to Latry, Lefebre et al.? Hey guys, you should apply for a job at Notre Dame. Seriously! What all the adored heros of french organ improvisation offer in their concerts and sorties can be done by sound 16 year old american boys at the same level.

Thank you so much for your compliment! The only real difference I can see between Latry, Lefebvre, Leguay, Roth, Guillou, et al is the style in which they improvise. All are top notch world class organists. It has always been my dream to play the Grand Organ of Notre Dame ironically enough. Thank you so much for comparing us to the great French Cathedral organists.

I love improvising on the organ, I'm just terrible at it. I can do much better at the piano.

Thats the cool thing about improv. It doesn't have to be perfect. Look at Jean Guillou, he's the worst improvisor I know of, and people still love him. I personally would love to see some improvisations added to your video repertoire.

Aw man, this has become my favourite! I have yet to post an improvised video and I will now! Of course it will not be as good as this is. Cody is wicked and has an incredible future ahead of him!! Both of you so impressed me (yeah I know, "who's this guy we're impressing?") please post another duo video. If only you had a big AEolian-Skinner with all of the goodies on it, man you talk about WICKED!! Great job guys it was as fun to watch as I'm sure it was to play. Thumbs WAY UP!!!

Good to hear that - I couldn't understand why I was getting it wrong but still enjoying myself ;-)
