  • If anyone wants a very good overview of physics i suggest checking out the feynman lectures in physics (3 large book volumes). I strongly suddest not skipping to the 'interesting parts' like QCD as these are impossible to appreciate without a good physics background. Doing some problems will also help you to appreciate it. alternatively you could do a degree in physics.

  • I actually have 4 lectures of his on video. I'll upload one or two of them if I get a few requests.

  • waiting for it..

  • OK, I'll try and make time to do one or two then.

  • @geoffmthomas request

  • @dustimus1 I'm afraid I uploaded the first part of one of the lectures but was told they were copyright so deleted it. However, you can see them here:-

  • @dustimus1 Won't let me post the link. Just google "Feynman lectures videos".

  • As I've gotten older I have come to believe that motivation is at least 90% of what "makes the man" so the speak.

Feynman even eludes to it in this very video when he discusses how large chunks of time are needed to grasp these scientific ideas.

I believe there are many people that are intelligent enough, but they lack the motivation, desire, opportunity, or whatever else to really sit down for these lengths of time and DO it.

The key is how to motivate people.

  • I am quite taken with the chess analogy.

I will think this over as a challenge in thinking to others - and even to myself.

The idea is beginning to consume me ...

  • chess analogies work on so many levels

  • @moulingalette

This is exactly my belief at the moment. I'm at a point when I'm wasting time doing very little, I want to learn.

  • I am wondering how come none of the gods told us all these information. What? They didn't know.......They were more in sex, death, slavery, killing and.......

  • I'm with feyman when it comes to physics. My chemistry teacher often sets us task of writing essays on things like the peroidc table or to make a presentation on elements or compounds. I often have my partner do all the work and do the presentation because I rather concentrate on my physics, now I feel less gulity.

  • @nacho862

    Yeah, it is inspiring.
