three methods i use to help decrease that frizzy halo look you can get with latched locs. to recap they are:
1. finger twist the root before latching
2. latch wet
3. tie your hair down while its still wet and let it dry.

hope this helps!

  • Lillydot, you should take a look at the video called, "Dreadlock Maintenance - Frizz Control". Although the hair model is white, I think the idea is quite good and could be used on afro hair to tidy up the frizziness that occurs ALONG the loc when you use the latching method.

  • good stuff. thanks for the tip!

  • I noticed that you have a loc jewel in one of your locs. If that is a permanent one (you never ever take it out), how in the world do you latch that loc? I have permanent loc jewels and plan on adding more, but I'm concerned about how I'll be able to continue latching those particular locs. Now I just palm roll those ones. Any advice??

  • hi. sorry i can't help you on than, its not a permanent one. i slip it off when i wash my hair or latch. i WANT some permanent ones, but i hold off for just that reason. palmrolling those ones seems like the only answer.
