it's his way to express this piece, but I'm honest, in my opinion he overdid it a little bit... i think, it's too fast,
the musical thoughts seem to get a bit lost because of this, same goes for the intonation at 1:50

@cellist2793 We all express ourselves differently. I see some cellists sit and play like stone statues or machines - some people think that's the acceptable or appropriate way for a classical musician to perform. Not personally knowing this sonata, if I were to hear it for the first time, I would imagine the cellist needing to emote with the music and not sit like concrete and play. I think he does fine. He's not really head "banging"...it's his way of emoting. You have yours, I'm sure!
