  • "ADHD" can't be a disorder if it's genetic. Like synesthesia.

  • Spinal cords will be repaired soon, or could be able to be repaired soon, this is my dream job, and has a gold red line in my futures mindmap.

  • Yes it will most undoubtedly certainly be possible within my life time, if not already or in the next 5 years. All we need is more innovation in the bio tech and medical industry, oh and more logical well boned nerds like us.

  • @simplybornhuman interesting question...I don't think its possible right now...It takes surgeons a few hours to stitch severed nerves (when you've cut your finger or toe off), the brainstem has oooh a heck of a lot more going on there...I think its a matter of time though, I might not see it within my lifetime though :P

  • a slight correction: "For them, and only for them, this special medication might help/be useful."

Nevertheless, there are other factors as well that have to be taken into mind, like the side effects (thanks, markae0 ) and the severity of the disorder/disease.

  • I agree with your point of view about the pharmacy branche. I also think that there is a lot of medication prescribed that is unnecessary - and even more medication for the side-effects. Research is primarily done on "diseases" of the western world (for there they can make greater profits) and not on diseases that affect the poor on the southern hemisphere.

I think it's often hard to divide between which people need medication and which ones can go without. Personally, I prefer no medication.

  • Medication is for real disease that cause death and disease to the human body. ADHD "medications" are drugs that do not stop death or disease. Drugs have serious physical health consequences. Drugs should only be used in extreme "mental" conditions as a last resort. ADHD drugs made millions in profits, just like illegal drugs do. The authorities who told you to take a drug for ADHD made millions. Joseph Biederman earned at least $1.6 million in consulting fees

  • With medication, there's always the danger that it is misused (e.g. students/professors/managers/etc. taking anti-depressants to increase their performance). However, children with ADHD (Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) have great difficulties with learning (although they probably want to) and keeping still (they could be physically beat into submission but still won't be able to stop). For them, and for them only, this medication helps.

  • could it be oneday? Is it physically peasible in this century? or is every brain wired so differently that a partial transplant simply wont work

  • I don't think so.
