I know not everyone agrees with the use of flashcards to teach baby words, but I've found them incredibly useful and James often goes to them and asks me to get them down for him, so I think he likes using them, too. This is two of the Einstein sets, so he gets a little feisty part way through. (They're only supposed to be used one set at a time, but I had to capture this on video for the Grandmas who are nutty about seeing his every little talent.) :) Anyway, ENJOY!

  • Wow! He sounds SOO much like my 20 month old, his voice is almost identical! My baby can say everything your baby can except for froggy, ducky & his colors & he knows 15 animal sounds. I've never tried Einstn flashcards be4, just try 2 read 2 him alot every day,(though I was thinking about getting him some 4 Christmas). Just out of curiosity, how did u teach him his colors? My baby, seems 2 be having a harder time with colors. Was it from the flashcards alone, or flashcards along with reading?

  • Reading helps a lot, but he LOVED those flashcards. LOVED them!

    I taught him colors using the foam letters for the tub. I'd say the letter & color when he would pick them up. "PURPLE K!" After awhile, I'd say, "Where is a blue one?" Soon, I'd ask for the green W.

    I recommend Leap Frog's Letter Factory video. James knew all the letters & sounds they make in no time.

  • Hello, my name is Yoly and I really want to know how you did it? my baby is 19 months old and he just says 5 or 6 words....

  • Hi! I just saw your comment. Sorry so slow in replying! We love the Baby Einstein flashcards. They're cute pictures and fun words to say. :) Under $10, too. We just say the name of anything we look at and after a few tries, he gets it. Keep working at it and you'll find the same thing. Of course, by now, your baby has probably had a vocabulary explosion! :) That's the way it goes. ;) Thanks for the comment! :)

  • This baby is a genius!

  • Aw, thank you! We think he's pretty clever, but we know we're biased. ;) Thanks so much for watching and commenting! :)

  • I do not think it is unusual ability at his stage to recognize cards.I showed my son flash cards when he was 11 and he was just like your baby at 12 months. He loved them and asked for them. He is now 19 and counts to 10 ..knows a couple of letters and recognizes colors. Do I think he is exceptional? NO.Kids are smarter sooner than we think.

  • so clever!

  • Hi! I'm just curious, but could your son have hyperlexia??

    My friend's daughter was this way when she was around 1 and a half years old. She was reading books on her own when she was 2.

  • when did u start using flash cards to teach yr child? My baby is now 9 months and i am teaching her alphabets for a week now, i wonder if she is learning them...

    Btw, i am really impressed with yr effort and patience and yr child's intelligence level. He is definitely going to have a headstart when he begins school.

  • perfect. ive been checking out flashcards because i think our daughter is starving for brainfood. i think ive found what im looking for. you should get paid for this advertising :)

  • i lke wen he said pizza

  • whoa!

    thats amazing;

    i have a little brother that is 15 months and he can say "lauren" how many babies can actually say the "L" sound.
