  • Back in the late 60's throught to the early 80's I lived 50 miles upriver from Detroit. I visited Detroit a lot. Back then, for a kid from the cornfields of Lambton County, (Ontario), going to a big U.S. City like Detroit was like going to the moon.

I loved Detroit, because it gave the world Motown, Bob Seger, Iggy Pop, WRIF, , J.J. and the Morning Crew, The Tiger's, the Red Wings, The Piston's, and some of the greatest cars ever built.

The city has a soul. It will live on.

  • So long as the auto industry keeps leaving us and shipping their jobs over to mexico, Detroit will never recover. No one graduates, so no one gets to college, so no one leaves. But it's not like anyone can afford college anyway. No one can get a job without a degree, but they gotta eat, so they do what they have to do to stay alive. It aint right, but it's life.

Detroit techno and hip hop are the best in the world.

Detroit, lift up your weary head. Respect to the strugglers.

  • I love my city. Detroit is, has always been, and will always be, one the most historic, important, underrated, and unappreciated cities in the US. I have seen other cities, I have attended college in DC, visited LA, NY, Cleveland, etc. NONE compare to my city in their history or their drive and support of the country and the resilience of the inhabitants does not compare either. (no offense to any other viewers). But if you do not believe me, come here. You'll find respect you did not expect.

  • @oldsmobeaster, Best luck to you & thanx for the good words. Yes, Detroit will make a comeback but it will take much time. Somethings have improved already.
