@aribasultan I am not saying that all male oriental dancers are feminine. And I don't care whatever each person does in bed, I just care what comes out on stage. Nureyev, for instance, had a very strong presence on stage, not effeminate at all! I have seen many Arab men dance in clubs and restaurants, they were wonderful and not effeminate. I don't like it when someone wants to imitate women. I like a man to move like a man and a woman like a woman. Otherwise there's no fun!
@irmar There's nothing feminine or gay about male belly dancers. The problem lies in how belly dancing has been bastardised by some warped, perved concept the west - and now the majority of our own people - have of associating what is a traditional and cultural dance (not barred by gender) into something that should only be done by scantly clad dancing girls.
It's sad seeing a man taking all this trouble to move exactly like a woman (actually better than many women). No matter how great his technique is, it makes you uneasy, wanting to look away, at this display of feminine style. Nowadays gay men tend to walk, talk and move like men, they don't feel the need to imitate women. Male oriental dancers, however, still insist in being effeminate - and many women from the audience seem to love them, for some reason. Go figure! To each his own, I suppose.
