  • this dialogue is almost chilling! it fits so well in this time and age!... that russian dude should've been Bush. and the col. is right! afghan people would rather die than give up. ... chilling clip

  • Yep, right down to the treatment of the prisoner (Trautman) at the end.

  • Trautman is honest.. He lived the Hell of Vietnam!! That`s the reason he answer the question in that way...

  • @ragabonds It exists the same as it always has. It has been tested like no other nation by the mass murder of 9/11 and the continuing threat of Al Qaeda terrorist attacks, which temporarily created a rage against the muslim/arab world for a short time, but that has subsided and the end result is that a dictator in iraq has been replaced by an elected government, the first ever in the arab world, albeit at great cost in human life. And the iraqis still have their oil, it isn't really about that.

  • Funny how things can change...

  • And after Russians the Americans showed up. Same shit - different package. "Poor Afgan people" in the beginning of the movie really crack me up.

  • That speech wasn't un-patriotic it was advice and partially fact. If they won't surrender they must be exterminated. The Vietnamese didn't have a leg to stand on. They never surrendered because America gave them a better offer. Either way we did what we went there to do, which was hinder the progress of Russia and communism. A surrender admits defeat so there was no reason to stay until they were all dead. The objective was completed and the Vietnamese exited the war with dignity.

  • Well I sure as hell lost hope in America. Growing up in the east watching american movies and learning about the american dream and it's ethics and ideals of liberty was inspirational, a sense of security knowing that "big brother" will take care of things. Now it seems, the voice of liberty was only a facade, either that or America has been hijacked. I used to say bring on the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, but now I'm not so sure. Not when corruption can sneak in and take hold of anything, even the USA

  • I was watching this right now and came here looking for it. Absolutely IRONIC! This is the kind of thing that gives more fuel to conspiracy theorists and not to mention those mad men in Iran/NK (fuel that makes people think twice about whats really going on, is it about money? oil? - oh wait oil=money).

Not to mention conflicts that are still going on, Kosovo, Sri Lanka et al. The USA is losing its credibility. What happened to the voice of liberty that was once a shining icon of hope for all?

  • I watched this movie last month and had the same reaction.

  • thanks for posting this... the director of the movie is a prophet haha
