Climate change is felt acutely in the Sahel region, where the population is largely dependant on agriculture and livestock. The 3-4 months of summer rains are vital to survival. If these alter, food shortages and disasters can follow. This film, developed by Christian Aid together with the "Centre Ecologique Albert Schweizer", the "Office de Développement des Eglises Evangéliques", and the "Réseau MARP", shows examples of measures that can be taken to adapt to the changing climate.

  • This is much too optimistic a presentation. This is not to devalue to good intentions of these NGOs. Heidi Cullen, Climate Scientist, in "The Climate of the Future", fingers the Sahel as one area where all such efforts are bound to fail. All this good work and effort are going to succumb to climate change.
