Skiing In Europe - Ski Sunday Theme

A collection of still images from some of my most recent skiing holidays. The resorts featured are Fieberbrunn in the Austrian Tyrol and Les Deux Alpes, Les Trois Vallees, Valmorel and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the French Alps.

All of the skiing holidays I have included here have been taken since 2000, since I didn't have a digital camera before then and I haven't got around to scanning in the images that date back to 1978.....

I was wondering what to do with all the images on my PC -- I have managed to use 116 of them here!

This is really just for the interest of all of you out there with whom I have been able to share some good times skiing, drinking and generally having a ball over the last 8 years.

The music should be recognisable to most as the theme to the BBC series 'Ski Sunday', although the title of the track is less well-known. It's called 'Pop Looks Bach' and was composed by Sam Fonteyn.

Ski Sunday

It's one of many theme tunes the BBC producedin the 60s and 70s for programs featuring football, cricket, snooker, tennis and various other sports . (The Brits love their sports). Obviously given the title it was made for the one dedicated to skiing.

Is it true to say this piece of music did more for this sport than the sport did for itself? As a junior this music hooked me to a sport I had no chance of ever taking part in or ever dreamed of trying out simply because my parents were not in the financial position it required.

Sod all the toff's that got that chance, the music bettered the lot of you.......

You mean the bit on the organ counter melody? The quavers under the main theme? If so, that's not flat at all. It's only as flat as the instrument it was played on.

The organ has a dull tuning compared with the bright tuning of the rest of the orchestra. In actual fact, the timpani are far worse than the organ, but both are still tuned correctly. No flat notes.
