The 7th Mercosul Biennial has been conceived by its curators as an open platform of communication about the state of the more experimental and critical arts of the continent, in a dialogue with the world. The Chief curators are Victoria Noorthoorn (Argentina) and Camilo Yáñez (Chile).

The 7th Mercosul Biennial ran from October 16 to November 29, 2009, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil in three exhibition spaces: the Quayside Warehouses, Santander Cultural and MARGS (Rio Grande so Sul Museum of Art). Approcimately 70& of the works have been produced by the artists especially for this Biennial.

Among the artists who have been participating in this group exhibition with the title Grito e Escuta (Screaming and Hearing) were Daniele Buetti, John Cage, James Ensor, Cristobal Lehyt, Javier Téllez, and many others.

This is the first of two videos by our correspondents Daniel Rubim and Igor Vidor.
