All roads lead to the Alps. In this case by high-speed train through the Jura in France, Intercity Express through Germany, or by the Swiss state railway itself. The Swiss starting point: Bern and the Berner Oberland Railway. Final destination: the spectacular Jungfraujoch station. At an altitude of 2971 metres, we visit the Schilthorn/Piz Gloria, home of the longest downhill race in the world and site of the rotating restaurant made famous in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".
Via cog, steam and narrow gauge, "Trains, Tracks and Trails" winds and climbs its way along 3 separate rail trips through Switzerland: The Golden Pass, The Rhätische Bahn and The Jungfrau Bahnen.
For sheer take-your-breath-away beauty, nothing can surpass Switzerland. And what better way to enjoy the sharp relief of the mountaintops and ravines, the wildlife and the wildflowers, the changes from high summer to deep winter, than to hop on one of Switzerland's charming but efficient trains.
