Baby Hope

My submission to the Guggenheim/Youtube Play Biennial.

Using rhythm, repetition, and montage, I look to create an evolving narrative without an introduction or an ending. With the four shots in sequence, the viewer can easily deduce a back-story. From there, the outcome of Sam's surprise for Jason will be determined by how the viewer interprets the elements of the repeating scene and by how long the viewer watches the piece.

Somewhat frustrated with gallery or museum display of video art, I look to create a piece that can be understood regardless of when the viewer enters the piece.

'Baby Hope' was created by obtaining and editing clips from the soap opera 'General Hospital.'
