BRIEF BIODATA OF PN. HJH AINUN JAMILAH ALI - 2010 MALAYSIAN NATIONAL AWARD FOR TEACHER OF EXCELLENCE

Pn Hjh Ainun Jamilah Ali was born on 5th December 1943 in Besut, Terengganu. She is the youngest of four children and is the only daughter in the family. Pn Hjh's and her beloved husband Tn. Hj Haris b Hamidon live in Wakaf Bruas, Kuala Terengganu and have two sons and a daughter .

She started her teaching profession in 1971 and served at SMK Nasiruddin Shah, SMK Padang Midin and SMK Chung Hwa Wei Sin. She assumed the post of Senior Assistant at SMK Ibrahim Fikri. She was the Acting Principal in SMK Panji Alam and later became the Principal of SMK Seri Budiman, SMK Sultan Omar(Dungun), SMK Tengku Lela Segara(Marang) and at SMK Padang Midin from February 2001. All in Terengganu.

She retired from teaching on December 5, 2004.

In the academic field, she has excelled in improving standards as well as results in PMR, SPM and STPM. In the field of extra curricular activities she was the driving force in hockey and various other sports and had won awards from the Ministry of Education, namely the Education Minister's Quality Award in SMK Tengku Lela Segara(1998) and SMK Padang Midin(2003). An avid Scout Leader, Pn. Hjh Ainun also received long service medals from the Chief Scout of Malaysia.

She was awarded the PJK in 1989, the AMN in 1995 and PJC in 2003 for her service in education.

Although retired, she continues to be active and serves the community by holding positions such as Chairman of the Association of Former Officers of the Malaysian Education Services(Kuala Terengganu branch) and as Chairman of the Islamic Women's Welfare Board and a Member of the Malaysian Historical Society branch.

Her established principle of life is "Whatever line of work is our own choice and to achieve excellence in what we do is also our choice".
