Daffodils (Original)

I saw a daffodil in someone's vw beetle, so I wrote my first mandolin tune.

the rain came down and the land turned green
and pollen blew from atop the hill
the strangest weeds that i'd ever seen
and in the spring they were daffodils

a poor young man with jet black hair
fell in love with a wealthy girl
he gave her the next best thing to gold
one perfect yellow daffodil

one young lady was laid to rest
when her life was taken against her will
on her grave, as wild as she
were a dozen glowing daffodils
