Murdoch created the O'Reilly monster. Before Fox, O'Reilly was a two-bit washed up hack who made his name spewing celebrity gossip on Inside Edition (the same celebrities that O'Reilly pretends to hate for having the audacity of being likeable and more famous than him). If Murdoch didn't legitimize O'Reilly's lunatic ramblings, O'Reilly would be (like Joe the Plumber) the dead-beat annoying guy sitting at the end of the bar bitching about the system and bitter about his broken marriage.
