This slideshow set to music features some of the wild horses of the Pryor Mountains in Montana that are being removed permanently from the wild during a roundup in September, 2009 by the Bureau of Land Management. They plan to remove over 70 horses despite significant public protest. Photos by Carol Walker, author of Wild Hoofbeats: America's Vanishing Wild Horses, www.wildhoofbeats.com and music is "along the Coyote Highway" by Cordillera.

  • Carol Walker (reknowned photographer & friend) has created this youtube video of the Pryor Mountain Wild Horses (Cloud's herd). As tax payers, they are "our" horses ... they are all things beautiful, innocent, harmless, noble & good. May GOD BLESS THEM even in the midst of their freedoms being stripped away from them !

YOU and I are the ONLY voices these mustangs have. Please help ... please speak out ... please contact your legislators routinely ... Please. - Dorease R.

  • why dont you keep quiet? Its isnt fair that these bastards are capturing these horses why dont they leave them alone in the wild like theyre supposed to be? How would you like it if all your life all you knew was freedom and the wild then stupid morons came and captured you and put you in a fence where you couldnt escape AND take your babies away from you? Frig, that would be like taking you and locking you up in a zoo somewheres how would you like that? Just leave the poor things alone!

  • The unfortunate part of this travesty is that they are being removed from lands set aside for them by the ROAM act in 1971. A senator in Montana slipped a rider in a bill taking their lands away from them in a bill passed before a holiday session.

This Christmas season while you are decorating your tree, contact The Cloud Foundation and help keep them running WILD and FREE.

  • @ReasieRioux Really?I hope someone tells them stop! Its REALLY sad:( i wish the people would DIE who did that!

  • image was removed!?

  • Read about these Pryor Mountain mustangs: THE LAST GOOD HORSE by David Martin Anderson (novel was just released), then, you'll really understand the slaughter of these majestic creatures that took place during the 1930s.

  • that is awful how they are going to lose their home i feel so bad for them

  • thepetitionsite(dot)com/1/stop-2011-roundup/

Sign this free petition to stop the cruel and UN-necessary 2011 BLM roundup

  • What a tragety! These horses seem to be in perfect health, have plenty of grazing pasture, and substantial water supply. There is no overpopulation, if overpopulation was the case once again there would not be enough food and water. There is right for BLM to take these horses away from their home! And especially such a well publicized herd such as this one!

  • Please search for petitions online "Save the Wild Mustang" they have over 40,000 in holding pens and are sending them to Canada and Mexico for slaughter. Please help the Wild Mustang of America. They belong to the American people. Call congress and tell them to stop the roundups today. Please HELP get the information out to the people. The Media doesn't care.

  • I posted this video on my facebook page and encouraged all my face book friends to write their congress person as well as the president, like I myself have already done. PLEASE do the same and save what few wild horses there are left in america.

  • that cool and sad
