I grew up in Toronto and watched Commander Tom all the time! What a wonderful childhood memory.

Rocketship 7 Came on In The Morning at 7:30 1962-1979. Commander Tom Came on In The Afternoon at 3:30. In 1979 C.T. came on in the morning to fill the void of Rocketship 7. In the 1980's to 1991 weekends.

Thanks for posting this. Tom, you were a great surrogate dad, and safe harbour to tons of latch key kids, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every kid in Toronto adopted you, as well. Truly a positive roll model. Are there any clips from Fright Night, or The Late Show ?

Locally produced childrens' shows made cities like Buffalo, NY fun places to grow up. The nationalization of all this programming ripped away a lot of great local culture. We were so lucky to enjoy shows like Commander Tom and Rocketship 7. The poor kids today have no 'local' equivalent of childrens' programs or role models, and instead are brought up with nearly 24/7 local news coverage of daily shootings and violence downtown. That's progress??? Bring back local programming content.

wow, have not thought of commander tom since I lived in NY, and that was 1983. I do remember it though, and I also remember a LOT of Irv Weinstein! (it's 11:00, do you know where your children are?)
