amend does NOT work on turbo tax 2010

I cannot get to the amend return steps in the download version. When I start turbo tax, I click in the Amend a Return button as directed, howver the program does NOT go to the part where it describes the steps to amend. Instead, it goes through showing me the status of my return, then ends with the option to Exit. There is no way to get to the amend return steps
