That could work for one day or for occasional teasing, but day after day of "you're fat, you're ugly, you're stupid" (even if those are all lies) would get to anyone, especially if a group gangs up on one kid. Just trying to think of it as their problem, not yours, sometimes provokes them into seeing how far they have to go to get to you and the pushing in the hall starts, knocking books out of your hands, taking your stuff and throwing it in the trash, ripping your clothes, beatings...

If I noticed somebody coughing more than usual, that would tell me that person has a serious illness. Nobody deserves to be bullied like that.

@xxaliciajeanxx My uncle had CF. People did a lot of mean stuff to him, according to my dad. The medication for CF colored his teeth, and they really were cruel to him. People suck.

@ParentHealthIss More than just insensitive - it's an intent to hurt someone...those people would likely physically assault someone if they could get away with it.

While I believe that empowering people to resist the effects of harassment and denigration is important, I think that teaching people to be more accepting and decent to others around them would eliminate this problem at its root.

Mean people who are insensitive to others. Unfortunately, the schools are full of them and that's why children with cystic fibrosis face this sad issue. Thanks for commenting.
